Conor’s mum is ill, and he’s not dealing well with it. In all fairness: he’s dealing very realistically not well with it, apart from the big magic tree thing, which creepily forces him into emotional truthfulness. Rough read โ I kinda want to be callous and rate it at two stars for predictability, but it hit its notes well. Three stars from me probably means 4+ for people who are into YA, btw โ I’ve recently noticed that while I’m still reading YA by habit and reading list, I have started to enjoy it less on average.
