I'm currently behind on reviews, so don't be surprised if the recent reviews are a bit sparse.

Artifact Space

Cover of Artifact Space.

Wonderful book. Takes the old orphan formula and runs with it โ€“ no subversions, no edgy darkness, just that: The protagonist flees her life into the sci-fi navy, and starts to train on a Greatship. She finds companions, teachers, a proper structure where she can grow without being a PC game style stand-out hero. There’s proper worldbuilding and characterisation, too!

I wish there was more of this series. Guess I’ll have to read his other books instead โ€“ already looking forward to a re-read once the next part is out.

This book is part of the 2022 Backlog Incident.
