I enjoyed this one, and not just for the digs against Fillory (which is a transparently renamed Narnia). The darkly realistic magic school: good. The annoying, whiny, dickish protagonist getting his comeuppance: yeah, dig it. No magic reform arc, either. In total it was rough and not particularly fulfilling as a book, but individual parts all worked really well for me.
I'm currently behind on reviews, so don't be surprised if the recent reviews are a bit sparse.
