Book of my childhood. Love it to pieces. Kitsch, of course, it’s Spyri after all, and you also need a tolerance for the religious version of Kitsch, but I still like it. Maybe each character only gets 1-2 adjectives, but she really truly believes them and writes good interactions between the five younger siblings, Leonore, and the older generation.

Plot summary

Frau Maxa, die Pfarrerswitwe, und ihre fünf Kinder: Bruno, der jähzornige älteste. Kurt, der optimistische Idealist. Mea, die gewissenhafte gute Freundin. Lippo, der kleine Korinthenkacker. Mäzli, das Kleinkind.
Loneli, die engelhafte Enkelin der alten Appolonie, lieb, still, perfekt. Diener eben, gell? Und dann neben der alten Appolonie: der alte jähzornige Herr Bruno, der stille (tote) Salo und seine Leonore, und natürlich Frau Maxa und ihr Bruder Philipp.
Plot wie gehabt, kranke junge Leonore wird aufgenommen, der alte Bruno kommt heim, große Versöhnung.
