I'm currently behind on reviews, so don't be surprised if the recent reviews are a bit sparse.

The Ninth Rain

Cover of The Ninth Rain.

Surprisingly vague in my memories โ€“ there’s extensive plotting and world-building, and I’m usually a sucker for this repeating apocalypse thing (remember Pern?), especially when the last one starts to pass out of memory! But I think the characters just didn’t stick with me? The rogue prince running from his failed empire (who had to carry his fantasy race exposition) plus the mercenary/warrior/escapee from the Evil Nuns, plus the world somehow ending, plus the alien grossness โ€ฆ and too many apostrophes, to be quite honest. And no big twist, everything signalled way ahead of time.

This book is part of the 2022 Backlog Incident.
