I'm currently behind on reviews, so don't be surprised if the recent reviews are a bit sparse.

Low Town

Cover of Low Town.

Anti-hero protagonist deals drugs, grumps around, hides his heart, gets fucked around with and fucks around with others, and, as forgotten war hero and ex-special police dude, decides to clear up a series of murders. Very grim, much dark.

I kinda liked it! It just has a pretty big drawback, which is that it’s really close to Vlad Taltos, without getting anywhere near the depth or quality of Vlad, so I remained faintly disappointed by near-generic grimming and darking.

That said, decent enough entertainment, though I’m not sure I have the patience for the full trilogy.

This book is part of the 2022 Backlog Incident.
