Grass made reading this book into an unpleasant experience. Most scenes feel … unclean, damp, to be avoided. At the same time, his mastery of language is amazing, and there were several pages that I read over and over again because they were just so beautiful.
I'm currently behind on reviews, so don't be surprised if the recent reviews are a bit sparse.
