Didn’t feel it – decent writing, and historical horror with a Joan of Arc theme can work for me (as the other book with the Byzantian robots has shown, which I keep confusing with this one, because how many Joan-of-Arc-gritty-alt-history-grimdark books do you need?), but this one just didn’t land. Lots of people I didn’t care about at all, lots of rape-pillage-murder, and for what.

In an alternate history that is being uncovered in the present day, a version of Joan of Arc plays out, with plenty of gritty horror. I keep confusing this with the one with Byzantian robots or something.
